The issue is not interest. It is instruction. Current teacher training emphasizes content such as anatomy, philosophy, and sequencing while neglecting pedagogy, the science of how people actually learn.

Psychological Safety
Normalize looking for new students, showing them around, and communicating what to expect in your class. Remind them that the practice will not be learned in a day, explain what to do if they struggle, and give explicit permission to rest or modify when needed. Lighten the room for them by welcoming imperfection.
